Information for Visitors

The Canada Agriculture Museum is living proof of the "Green Capital". In fact, Ottawa is the only world Capital that has a working farm at its heart. Canada's unique agricultural heritage is featured at the Canada Agriculture Museum, where you can explore the sights and sounds of typical farm life.

Visit the animal barns and special exhibitions at the largest urban working farm and research station in Canada. Discover the many breeds of dairy cattle and see a modern dairy barn in operation. In the Small Animal Barn you can meet sheep and lambs, pigs and piglets, chickens, rabbits and goats. In our Horse and Cattle Barn, you can see the Clydesdale horses and seven breeds of beef cattle. Wander through the Dominion Arboretum and the ornamental gardens right next door.

Location:

Prince of Wales Drive (between the traffic circle and Baseline Rd), Ottawa, Canada. To reach the Museum by bus, take OC TRANSPO #3 (Nepean Centre). Call OC TRANSPO for details at 613 741-4390.

NEW! Food for Health - Opens March 9, 2007

Food is a topic of endless discussion. It’s something we can’t do without and it can also be a source of great enjoyment. Is there anything as personal or as important as the foods we choose to eat each day? Our health depends to a large extent on what we eat. The new Food for Health exhibition takes a fresh look at the foods we eat and answers many of the questions Canadians have about their food choices, about food safety and about the role food plays in ensuring good health.

The new Food for Health exhibition offers a Web Presence with its Web Site at www.foodforhealth.ca

Animal Barns

Get up close and personal with the animals at the Canada Agriculture Museum. In our barns and barnyards see different breeds of dairy and beef cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, goats, rabbits and chickens. Don't forget to look for our heritage breeds!

Picnic at the Museum

The Canada Agriculture Museum is ideal for picnics! In the shade of the apples blossoms, under a tent or in the sun, visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors as they snack or have lunch. We cannot permit the use of barbecues or hibachis on the Museum site. The Museum has vending machines for hot and cold beverages and light snacks but does not offer food services.
