Fall at Rideau Hall

Fall Rose Garden

Every fall, the 10,000 or so trees on the Rideau Hall grounds put on a dazzling display of vivid colours. Come explore this historic site where the Governor General works on a daily basis.

  • Start your visit at the Visitor Centre and at Gift Shop near the Sussex Gate. Here you can learn about the role of the Governor General through interactive displays. Browse through the Gift Shop for special Canadian souvenirs. Until October 28th: daily, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • See the state rooms, where important moments in Canadians history have been taking place since Confederation.
  • Stroll around the grounds and see, among other things, the hundreds of commemorative trees planted by visiting heads of State and members of the Royal Family.
  • Discover the collection of Canadian art and furniture, which showcases Canada’s diversity.
  • During the winter months, lace up your skates and take advantage of the outdoor rink.
