Governor General and Mr. Lafond to meet with Toronto’s francophone community during regional visit

OTTAWA—During a regional visit to Toronto on November 15, 2007, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Jean-Daniel Lafond will speak with francophone students about francophonie, and will attend the celebrations marking the Théâtre français de Toronto’s 40th anniversary.

Their Excellencies will meet with approximately 60 francophone Toronto youth to talk about life as a linguistic minority in a large Canadian city.

Fortieth anniversary of the Théâtre français de Toronto
Their Excellencies will attend the gala marking the Théâtre français de Toronto’s 40th anniversary and the Governor General will deliver a speech. The Théâtre français de Toronto is the only French professional theatre company in southern Ontario and offers a full season of shows each year. Since its creation in 1967, it has produced and showcased productions from all over, for enthusiasts of francophone culture of all ages.
