About My Business Account

General information

My Business Account is a secure and convenient way for businesses to access their Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) account information online. You will need a Government of Canada epass to log in to My Business Account. My Business Account will continue to expand with more self-serve options throughout 2008 and 2009.

1. Who can use My Business Account?

My Business Account is for business owners, partners, directors and officers.

To use My Business Account, your social insurance number (SIN) must be on your Business Number file with the CRA. You can call us at 1-800-959-5525 to provide your SIN. If you do not want to provide your SIN, you can obtain CRA business services through traditional service channels including telephone, mail, and fax.

2. Why do I need to provide personal information to access My Business Account?

For CRA to protect the privacy of your information, the registration process into My Business Account requires you to enter personal information to identify yourself with CRA. We must ensure that you are the authorized person to access and view the account information requested.

3. Do I need a Business Number to use My Business Account?

Yes, you need a Business Number to use My Business Account.

4. How do my authorized representatives, including employees, get access to business information online?

Authorized representatives, including employees, will access this information through Represent a client by logging in with their own epass and then entering your BN.

5. How do I authorize my representatives?

You can authorize your representatives, including employees, online through the link "Authorize or manage representatives" or completing the revised RC59, Business Consent Form by providing the representatives' RepID that they obtained by registering as a representative through the Represent a client online service. You can also authorize a tax or payroll services business by providing their BN if the business is registered as a representative through Represent a client.

6. How do I make changes to my authorized representative information?

You can make changes to your authorized representatives online through the link "Authorize or manage representatives". This service allows you to review a list of all authorized representatives in our files for your business accounts as well as cancel or modify the authorization of a particular representative. The cancellation or modification will be effective immediately or at a specific date you choose.

Note: You can use the Automobile Benefits Online Calculator to determine the estimated automobile benefit for withholding purposes or to determine the taxable benefit that you have to report on the T4 or T4A slip.

8. Why should I use My Business Account?

  • Convenient - It gives businesses access to key CRA business services 21 hours a day, Monday to Saturday, and 20 hours a day on Sunday (see Hours of service).
  • Easy-to-use - After registering, simply log in with your epass User ID and Password to access a personalized menu of services.
  • Saves time - Fast online service offers account information immediately.
  • Secure - The service uses the Government of Canada epass and a CRA authentication.

9. Is information obtained through My Business Account considered to be official?

No, business details provided through My Business Account are for information only.

10. If I see wrong information on My Business Account, can I correct it online?

No, not at this time. You will need to call us at 1-800-959-5525 and identify yourself with a CRA agent to correct wrong information you found on My Business Account.

11. Will I see information on My Business Account before receiving it from the CRA?

Information on My Business Account is taken from official documents. It is possible that information may be available on My Business Account before you receive it by mail.

  • View and modify the operating name we have on file for your business account(s)
  • View direct deposit information
  • Transfer payments
  • View your payroll account(s) current financial and remitter status
