Public ConsultationsThe Department of Justice is committed to encouraging the participation of all Canadians and justice-sector stakeholders in the development of law, policy and programs, as well as in identifying emerging trends in law and policy. To this end, the Department uses many different types of public participation activities, ensuring that a broad cross-section of views are taken into consideration when developing law and policy. In the past, the results of public participation activities have influenced the development of policy on youth justice, crime prevention and the rights of victims of crime, as well as specific questions of law reform and policy. The Department's public participation activities are guided by the Department's Strategic Plan 2001-2005 and its Policy Statement and Guidelines for Public Participation (PDF ). Current Consultations
