Combining the resources of an archive and the historical perspective of a museum with the aesthetics of an art gallery, the Portrait Gallery of Canada is in a unique position to offer a varied exhibition program responsive to the interests and needs of Canadians as well as international audiences. Through innovative partnerships, an active travelling exhibition schedule, a generous loan program and pioneering online exhibitions, the Portrait Gallery of Canada is exploring inventive ways to share the rich portraiture holdings of Library and Archives Canada. To complement exhibitions on specific themes and subjects, the Portrait Gallery of Canada will also borrow works from the portrait holdings of other public and private collections.
