Former Finance Deputy Minister Appointed Director of EBRD

Finance Minister Paul Martin has announced that C. Scott Clark has been nominated for the position of Director representing Canada and Morocco at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is based in London, UK.

"I am delighted that Mr. Clark has agreed to undertake this important and challenging post," said Minister Martin. "Perhaps not since the end of the Second World War have the interrelations between economies in Europe and the rest of the world been of such importance. Mr. Clark’s expertise and experience should serve Canada and the EBRD very well indeed."

Mr. Clark offers extensive experience in the field of international and domestic economic policy. He is currently Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office and Visiting Fellow at the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Clark has held a number of senior positions with the Department of Finance, including Deputy Minister of Finance, Associate Deputy Minister of Finance, and Minister’s Deputy within the G-7. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Clark served as Canada’s Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund.

Mr. Clark will commence his new position as EBRD Director for Canada at end-August 2001.
