Canada's New Government to Update the National Energy Code for Buildings

June 19, 2007, Ottawa, ON – Media are invited to join Minister Lunn and representatives from the National Research Council (NRC) as they officially announce the update of the national energy code for buildings.

Following the announcement, tours of the NRC Institute for Research in Construction labs and the Canadian Centre for Housing Technology (CCHT) InfoCentre will be held, including a photo op and media availability.

Date: Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Time: 1:00 p.m. EST

Place: Canadian Centre for Housing Technology InfoCentre, NRC Montreal Road North Campus, 1200 Montreal Road, Building M-24A, Ottawa, ON

Jointly managed by NRC, NRCan and CMHC, CCHT is Canada's unique research, testing and demonstration resource for innovative technologies in housing.

Invited dignitaries include the Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources, Dr. Richard Normandin, Vice-President, Physical Sciences, NRC and Bruce Clemmensen, Chair of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC).

NRC works on behalf of all Canadians by undertaking research that addresses the nation's most critical issues such as energy conservation, technical innovation and industry competitiveness.
