Management Potential

The PPC provides special services for identifying managers and leaders.

PPC assessment centres identify the potential competencies of candidates at all levels. Individuals are evaluated by the various centres to identify their strengths, weaknesses and developmental needs. Over one or two days, they demonstrate their skills in simulation exercises that reflect the issues and problems faced by today's government.

Selection for development

The Assessment Centre for the Accelerated Economist Training Program, and the Assessment Centre for the Management Trainee Program lead to an intensive training programs. These assessment centres measure:

  • analytical skills
  • communication
  • interpersonal skills and
  • other skills

Middle management potential

The Assessment Centre for the Identification of Middle-Management Potential provides valuable information on essential skills needed for middle-management level jobs. It provides an opportunity to observe individuals dealing directly with managerial issues and challenges. The information yielded on key managerial competencies can help:

  • in promoting people to middle management positions
  • in establishing training and development needs
  • in counselling for career transitions

Executive appointment

The Assessment Centre for Executive Appointment is one component of the enhanced selection process for entry into the executive group. The Centre provides information on essential leadership and management abilities of candidates for entry-level executive positions. Information from the assessment is used in combination with information from other sources to make selection decisions.

For several years now, the Personnel Psychology Centre has provided 360° feedback instruments and services to federal government departments, agencies and organizations. These services are specially designed to promote professional development among managers at all levels and to facilitate the development of federal public sector organizations.
