1. What should I do if I am notified of an overpayment of the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB)?
If you are notified that you have an overpayment, please call us at 1-800-387-1193 to discuss the matter.
2. What happens if I receive a UCCB overpayment?
If a redetermination shows that you were overpaid the UCCB, we will send you a notice to tell you how much you owe. If you receive a redetermination that says you have an overpayment, please send us the amount shown on the redetermination. We may keep all or part of your future UCCB payments until you pay the balance in full. To discuss repayment arrangements, you can call one of our collection agents at 1-888-863-8662.
3. Whom do I contact to repay a balance owing for a UCCB overpayment?
You should call 1-888-863-8662 to discuss the matter with one of our collection agents.
The person who received the original payment has to repay the overpaid amount.
If other arrangements have not been made, we can use your income tax refund to repay an amount owing.
6. If I disagree with a notice of overpayment, what are my options for disputing the decision?
If you disagree with a notice of overpayment, please call 1-800-387-1193 to discuss the matter with a Canada Revenue Agency enquiry agent. If you still disagree, you can file an objection through your Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB). The enquiry agent will be able to provide you with more information on how to file your objection. The deadline for filing an objection is whichever of the following two dates is later;
