This new Treasury Board Policy web site provides access to policies developed or renewed as part of the policy renewal initiative.
In 2005, the Treasury Board Secretariat and Public Service Human Resource Agency of Canada launched a review of Treasury Board management policies in order to clarify
the responsibilities and accountabilities of Ministers and Deputy Heads in key areas of public service work.
This initiative supports the Federal Accountability Action Plan and will result in a reduced number of "rules"
governing federal public sector management. It will also make the Treasury Board policy instruments more targeted and accessible. By strengthening and streamlining how
government works, the renewed policy suite will make government more effective and accountable.
In May 2006, Treasury Board Ministers approved the Foundation Framework for Treasury Board Policies. The Framework
explains the purpose of the renewed policies and other instruments, such as directives and guidelines. It also summarizes the general requirements common to all renewed
policy instruments. Policies are grouped together and principles identified for policies in particular areas (Finance, People Framework and others).
As renewed policy instruments are approved they will be posted on this website. The following
policies have been approved to date.
