As a national institution within the Canadian Heritage Portfolio, the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation is responsible for preserving and protecting Canada’s scientific and technological heritage and promoting and sharing knowledge about that heritage. The Corporation and its three Museums—the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum —tell the stories of Canadian ingenuity and achievement in science and technology, and demonstrate how these accomplishments have contributed to the building of our country.
By preserving and celebrating the scientific and technological heritage of Canada, the Corporation fosters a sense of identity and pride on the part of all Canadians in their achievements in science and technology.
The Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation was an early adopter of electronic technologies, seeing in these new platforms a way to develop new markets while serving existing ones with new and innovative products. The Corporation has had a presence on the Internet since 1996 when its first generation Web sites were mounted for the three Museums. Since 1996 several new iterations of these sites have been developed and made operational, the most recent in March 2004 with the redesign of the Canada Aviation Museum Web site.
The corporate Web site features activities operating under the corporate umbrella and is intended to facilitate visitors’ access to news and information about the Corporation and to programs such as membership,donations and sponsorship, as well as employment opportunities.
