Energy Infrastructure Protection Division


The Energy Infrastructure Protection Division:

  • Formulates policies and provides advice, briefings and recommendations to the Minister on Canada´s critical energy infrastructure protection and emergency preparedness;
  • Provides expert advice to the Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Emergency Preparedness (OCIPEP) - Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada (PSEPC) portfolio - in formulating and delivering the National Critical Infrastructure Assurance Program (NCIAP);
  • Liaises with key stakeholders including regulatory agencies, provincial governments, energy industry and associations;
  • Develops information sharing protocols, promoting best practices;
  • Represents Natural Resources Canada in the Canada-U.S.-Mexico North American Energy Working Group to promote international cooperation and to exchange ideas on areas of mutual interest related to critical energy infrastructure protection and emergency preparedness;
  • Co-ordinates the Energy Sector business continuity plan.
