The Customs Internet Gateway (CIG) was initiated to give CBSA trading partners an alternative delivery channel for the transmission of cargo, release, and accounting data.
Using a public key infrastructure, CBSA trading partners will be able to send and receive data over the Internet. Medium-level assurance certificates will be issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Certification Authority (CA) to each trading partner wishing to use the electronic transactions methods.
To register for the Customs Internet Gateway, participants must first become CRA PKI subscribers. To register as a subscriber, each participant requires the following:
Participant Requirements Document (PDF, 474Kb)
The Participant Requirements Document details all of the requirements participants must have and all of the steps that must be followed in order to successfully complete the online registration process.
Organization Agreement (PDF, 68Kb)
The Organization Agreement must be signed by a senior official of the organization who has the authority to bind the organization.
It details the terms and conditions relating to PKI participation, as well as the responsibilities of the organization. It also identifies those individuals appointed to receive and manage digital certificates.
Software
Two software packages are required; an Entrust enabled package and a CIG client. Please refer to the CIG Participant Requirements Document for details.
You also require a version 4 or later Browser with 128-bit encryption.
