You can search this site for specific news releases, media advisories, warning and advisories, speeches, reports and other news and background related information.The Advanced Search is best used to limit your search criteria.

For a search not related to the News Centre, use the Government of Canada search engine.

About the Canada News Centre

The News Centre has two primary purposes:

  • A central publishing and distribution service for GC organizations to publish their news and other related products for distribution across three access channels: the News Centre Web site, News Centre RSS news feeds and the News Wireless Portal.
  • A central news source for Canadians and the media to access from three access channels up-to-the-minute news and other related news resources published by GC organizations.

Content published to the News Centre is presented under different views in order to give you greater flexibility over the way you choose to receive and view GC news. Today's news items are found either on the National News page or on the News by Region page. Or you can choose to view news by a specific Audience group. You can also view current and archived news items using the Advanced Search page or the News Centre Archives page. The News Centre archives dates back to 2002.
