Canadian Technology Network was created in 1994 under the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) of National Research Council Canada (NRC), in concert with Industry Canada. The network was founded to meet an urgent need: accelerating access for SME to technology by linking the resources and services offered. Since 2000, in conjunction with IRAP, Canada Economic Development has provided financial backing in order to extend the Network's range and maximize its impact on Quebec SME's.
CTN acts as an information channel between the different actors from:
- governmental and business service organizations;
- industrial and professional associations;
- R&D; and technology transfer organizations;
- financial and economic development sectors.
More specifically, some sixty organizations offering advisory services for SME's are advisory members of CTN. More than 100 individual specialists have been recruited as CTN advisors from among these organizations.
All CTN advisors, recognized for their skills in business or technology, have undertaken further training to ensure they master the tools, meet the expectations and subscribe to the values of the Network. Innovative SME are able to contact them directly to obtain preliminary diagnoses or possible solutions.
There are also more than 90 CTN advisory members, made up of organizations offering specialized services to SME. They carry out mandates judged to be critical by advisors and entrepreneurs.
CTN also enjoys the wealth of experience of 150 consultants from the private sector. These professionals subscribe to the Network's values and possess the experience, skills and know-how required to lead SME business projects in the right direction.
CTN's development relies on a dedicated team that ensures the Network remains relevant for the SMEs called the catalysts : the Coordinators and Strategic Advisors.
All our members share their contacts and best practices. In such a spirit of collaboration, they can target an entrepreneur's specific needs and offer superior support for the development of innovative projects.
