International Relations

The Treasury Board Secretariat's international activities are coordinated through the Federal Councils and External Relations (FCER) Division. FCER provides a "window on the world" for the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), consistent with its interests as a central agency and management board of the Government of Canada. FCER manages TBS international activities and outreach by developing expertise on governance developments around the world, and by acting as a catalyst for international dialogue and exchanges that support the business lines and policy priorities of the TBS.

To achieve this mission, FCER is responsible for:

  • developing programs and information products that inform TBS personnel of innovations and best practices in other countries;
  • facilitating contact and exchanges with other governments and with international institutions in support of TBS policy interests;
  • coordinating programs for international delegations and visitors; and
  • sharing and promoting Canadian public sector expertise with other governments and with international institutions.
