How do I apply for a passport at a Service Canada Centre?

Bring your completed passport application form, required documentation and fee to the participating Service Canada Centre.

Note: Passport receiving agents will accept only standard application forms. Be sure to review the conditions for submitting applications directly to Passport Canada.

The passport receiving agent will review your application for completeness and accuracy, collect the fee along with the original identification documents (birth or citizenship certificates), and forward these documents to Passport Canada for processing. The fee can be paid by:

  • certified cheques or money orders (postal or bank);
  • credit card (VISA; MasterCard, American Express);
  • debit card; or
  • cash (exact change is appreciated).

Your application will then be forwarded to Passport Canada for examination and processing. Receiving Agents are not authorized to verify your proof of identity or determine your eligibility to receive a passport. These processes and decisions remain the responsibility of Passport Canada.

Any questions or concerns about the status of a passport application should be directed to Passport Canada. Once approved, your passport will be delivered to you directly by Passport Canada. For up-to-date information about passport application processing times, please refer to Passport Canada.
