Published since 1954, this monthly journal contains new research in the field of microbiology including applied microbiology and biotechnology; microbial structure and function; fungi and other eucaryotic protists; infection and immunity; microbial ecology; physiology, metabolism and enzymology; and virology, genetics, and molecular biology. It also publishes review articles and notes on an occasional basis, contributed by recognized scientists worldwide.

Dr. J.J. Germida — University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Dr. Germida is Vice-Provost and Professor of Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan. A soil microbiologist well known for his studies on the biodiversity and community dynamics of microorganisms in contaminated and agroecosystems, he is author of numerous articles in these areas. He was President of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists in 2001 and is a member of the Council of Science and Technology Advisors.

Dr. H.G. Deneer

Dr. H.G. Deneer — University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Dr. Deneer is Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and Director of the Diagnostic Molecular Pathology Laboratory at Royal University Hospital. His research interests include the development of molecular assays to detect human pathogens and the molecular basis of microbial pathogenicity. He has received the University of Saskatchewan Students Union Teaching Excellence Award.
