The PSC Survey of Appointments, (formerly known as Programme of Special Surveys), conducts semi-annual surveys in support of the Public Service Commission's role in the oversight of merit-based staffing.
Specifically, the Survey of Appointments augments the Public Service Commission's staffing information with key data on appointment process, staffing strategy, area of competition etc. Sample-based surveys are utilized as they offer the advantage of dynamic and scalable data collection, with minimal cost and response burden. The information gathered by the survey process will contribute to a service-wide perspective of staffing needs and help identify areas where changes can be made to improve the staffing system.
The focus of the Survey is to examine appointments made with merit with a primary interest in indeterminate recruitment, indeterminate promotions and term-to-indeterminate lateral appointments. A sample of the questionnaires and related documentation, including available results, is provided below.
