Subject: Results of Retail Price and Living Cost Differential (LCD)
Survey for Nunavut Territory
Departments are reminded to distribute this notice to employees at your
headquarters and regional offices who are involved in the administration of the
isolated posts allowances.
The results of the Statistics Canada survey of the Living Costs Differential
(LCD) Indexes for the Nunavut Territory, conducted in February and March 2006,
were recently communicated to the National Joint Council Isolated Posts and
Government Housing Committee (NJC-IPGHD). A survey of fifteen (15) posts
in the Baffin Region of Nunavut, two (2) posts in the Ungava Bay Region of
northern Quebec, eight (8) posts in the KivalliqRegion of Nunavut and one (1)
post in the Northern Manitoba Region were surveyed
A total of twenty-six (26) isolated posts were involved in this
review.

The changes are effective February 1, 2007.

for the applicable rate of allowance according to the specific index
classification.
Please note that the revised LCD classifications will be updated in Appendix A
at a later date.

Departments are to provide written notices to employees who are affected by
the changes as per Section 5.12.3 of the IPGHD as the total amount of the
reduction in the living cost differential shall be effective on the first day of
the fourth calendar month after the month in which written notice was received.
Departmental employees or regional staff should direct any questions on this
subject to the appropriate departmental corporate official.
