Please distribute this notice of the Isolated Posts Directive as quickly as possible to persons at your headquarters and/or regional offices who are involved in the administration of the isolated post allowances.

The Treasury Board Secretariat has approved certain changes to the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive. These changes were arrived at following consultations within the National Joint Council and are in accordance with the approved methodologies.

a) The following locations have been added to Appendix "A":

Burin, Nfld
Head of Bay d'Espoir, Nfld

b) As a result of an in depth review conducted by the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Environment Allowance classification of two locations have been updated.

The Environment Allowance classifications of the following two locations have been reinstated effective August 1, 2007:

Burin, Nfld (Level 1)
Head of Bay d'Espoir, Nfld (Level 2)

c) As a result of a survey conducted by Statistics Canada, the Living Cost Differential levels and the Fuel and Utilities Differentials for these locations remain below qualifying levels.

Any retroactive payments resulting from the above changes to the Environment Allowance are to be administered in the same manner as retroactive increases to employees' pay.

Departments have sixty (60) days from the date of this information notice to inform employees in writing of the above changes.
