Funding for the website was made available through the Canadian Memory Fund of the Canadian Culture Online, (CCO) Department of Canadian Heritage.

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) thanks Murray Angus and the students and staff from the Nunavut Sivuniksavut Training Program (NSTP) (www.nstraining.ca/) in Ottawa for gathering and coordinating the new photographic descriptions. LAC is indebted to the many Inuit Elders and youth in communities throughout Nunavut who participated in the identification of individuals depicted in these archival photographs.

LAC gratefully acknowledges the Department of Culture, Language, Elders and Youth (CLEY) (www.gov.nu.ca/cley/), Government of Nunavut, for its generous funding of this project.

We are indebted to Elders Louis Uttak and Abraham Ulayuruluk, and to Jesse Mike, for their two weeks of photographic research at LAC in October 2005. We are especially thankful to Joanna Quassa and Sylvia Ivalu, who coordinated their trip and provided on-site translation of Inuktitut to English.

We would like to thank all of the staff at LAC who contributed their expertise, energy and enthusiasm to launching Phases I and II of Project Naming.

It is reproduced with the authorization of the co-editors of the project, Laurent Aubert, Secrétaire général des Archives internationales de musique populaire, and Jean-Jacques Nattiez, Professor at the Faculty of Music, Université de Montréal.
