Interlibrary and Inter-institutional Loans

It is possible to consult many published documents and many microfilm copies of archival documents from Library and Archives Canada's (LAC)collection through the interlibrary or inter-institutional loan service.

How to borrow documents:

Contact your local library or archives. They will make the request on your behalf.
For published materials, provide details such as author, title, date and publisher of the item you need.
For archival microfilm, provide the microfilm reel number and a brief description of what is on the reel you need.
It may be helpful to provide a printout or copy of the source where you found out about the item you need.
