Before you call: Tips on how to use TeleReply

Here are some tips on how to use this service:

General information

  • Complete the back of your remittance voucher before calling and have this information with you when you call.
  • For best results, and to ensure your privacy, do not use a cordless or cellular telephone or one with the keypad in the handset. TeleReply does not work with rotary phones.
  • The service is available:

    • Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and
    • Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., local time.


      You cannot use TeleReply on Sundays and public holidays.

  • During the same TeleReply phone call, you can update your nil remittance information for:

    • any or all payroll deduction accounts that fall under the same Business Number;
    • accounts that fall under more than one Business Number
    • Nova Scotia Workers Compensation Board accounts.

When using TeleReply

  • When the system ask you for your business number, do not enter the letters "RP".
  • Your remitting period is the period in which you had to make the source deductions from your employee's salary. We will not ask you to enter your remittance due date.
  • Press the " * " (star button) to listen to the message a second time.
  • Press " 1 " to answer " yes".
  • Press " 0 " to answer " no".
  • Press " # " (number sign) when you are finished entering an amount.
  • Whenever you enter a date, you enter 4 digits for the year, 2 digits for the month, and 2 digits for the day.
  • If you hang up before confirming the information given, the information will not be processed.
  • If at any time during the call we tell you that you cannot use TeleReply, you will have to mail your remittance voucher.

After you call

  • You have to enter all the information every time you call.
  • If you are a quarterly remitter, or if you have already told us that you will not have employees until the end of a particular month, you don't have to tell us until the end of the next remitting period.
  • Keep your paper voucher along with any related documents and your TeleReply confirmation number for your records.
