Canadian Committee on MARC
Introduction
The Canadian Committee on MARC (CCM) is the national advisory committee on MARC formats and related national and international standards for the representation in machine-readable form of bibliographic information.
Library and Archives Canada provides the permanent secretariat for the Canadian Committee on MARC.
Terms of Reference
- To act as a Canadian MARC Advisory Committee to Library and Archives Canada by examining the MARC 21 communication formats and making recommendations on these formats.
- To examine MARC 21 communication formats as a medium for the exchange of machine-readable bibliographic information in Canada.
- To establish a procedure for receiving, evaluating and making recommendations on proposed national and international standards for the representation in machine-readable form of bibliographic information and other related standards.
- To maintain liaison with its constituent organizations and relevant outside agencies.

Membership
The committee consists of two representatives from the Canadian Library Association (CLA) and Association pour l'avancement des sciences et des techniques de la documentation (ASTED) and one member from each of Library and Archives Canada, A-G Canada and the Bureau of Canadian Archivists.

Chairperson
