The Application Guide is a companion to the Terms and Conditions, not a replacement. The legal authority for the disposition of records remains with the MIDA 2005/006 and its Terms and Conditions. If there is a discrepancy between the Terms and Conditions and the Application Guide, the Terms and Conditions are always the basis for determining and interpreting the correct archival selection. This Records Disposition Authority, also known as the Multi-Institutional Disposition Authority for Operational Case File Records (MIDA) No. 2005/006, and its Terms and Conditions, requires institutions to transfer operational case file records of archival value to Library and Archives Canada (LAC), and consents to the disposition of non-archival operational case file records at the end of their retention periods established for them by institutions.
