The biographical entries include helpful descriptive bibliographies. Online version of the landmark work published in 24 volumes in 1999 by Oxford University Press and American Council of Learned Societies.

Canada Heirloom Series: http://epe.lac-bac.gc.ca/100/205/301/ic/cdc/heirloom_series/default.htm; This web version of a print series includes several biographical volumes each containing biographies of notable Canadians: Pathfinders : Canadian tributes, Wayfarers : Canadian achievers, Visionaries : Canadian triumphs, and Canada at the Millennium: A TransCultural Society. There is a search feature for each volume but no global search capability.
