On page 2 of the tax return Paul will enter information needed to help him calculate his total income for last year.
To begin with, he has ticked "No" in the box called "Please answer the following question". Next, he enters his employment income on line 101. Paul has calculated his income by adding together the amounts entered in box 14 of his T4s.
Since the total from both jobs was $6,200.00, he entered that amount on line 101.
For more information, see Reporting income.
The rest of the lines on page 2 apply to taxpayers with different income from Paul's. Paul does not need to fill in any other lines, except for line 150, which is used to show total income for last year. Paul has entered $6,200 on line 150
.
Now that Paul has finished calculating his total income, he goes to page 3 of his tax return to determine his net income for the year.
