An authentic looking email has been circulating the Internet asking recipients to click on a link and confirm account information. This is a fraudulent email aimed at tricking recipients to download malicious software.
The fraudulent emails forge the sender's address and appear to originate from the recipient's own organization. The email may contain, but is not limited to, one of the following subject lines:
- Security Measures
- Notice: **Last Warning**
- IMPORTANT Please Validate Your Account
- Account Alert
- Important Notification
- IMPORTANT Please Confirm Your Account Security measures
- Notice of account limitation
The Treasury Board Secretariat does not send emails requesting users to confirm account information. If you receive one of these emails, delete it immediately and do not respond or action it.
