Yellowknife RCMP have charged a teenager in connection with a fire at the city's Wal-Mart on Dec. 15.
The 16-year-old, whose identity can't be revealed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with arson, police said Monday.
The fire at the Wal-Mart was contained to several racks of Christmas merchandise. It was put out by the store's internal sprinkler system by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.
Following the Saturday night fire, the store was closed for nearly two days so staff could clean up the mess and assess the smoke damage.
No court date for the youth has yet been set, police said.
