What are the advantages of becoming a member of the National Gallery of Canada?
NGC members enjoy a variety of benefits: free admission for a year to the Gallery’s collections and special exhibitions, discounts on gallery talks and programs, as well as exclusive members-only events. Members also enjoy a 15% discount on most in-store and Shop NGC online purchases!
How can I purchase a Gift Certificate?
Boutique Gift Certificates are available in any amount and may be purchased by contacting a customer service representative at 1-800-319-ARTS or by e-mail at ngcbook@gallery.ca. Please note that Gift Certificates may only be redeemed in-store and cannot be used online.
How much will it cost to ship my order?
Shipping and handling rates are calculated separately for each shipping address. We ship using FedEx. For more information, please see our Shipping Options page.
What is your return policy?
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return your merchandise within 30 days for exchange or refund. To obtain a return authorization, please contact customer service by e-mail (ngcbook@gallery.ca) or call 1-800-319-ARTS. For more information, please see our Return Policy page. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.
Can orders be shipped internationally?
Most of our products can be shipped to international addresses. Recipients are responsible for paying all applicable customs, duties and taxes upon delivery. Shipping rates are calculated based on the destination. International customers should contact a customer service representative at 1-800-319-ARTS or by e-mail at ngcbook@gallery.ca to place an order.

Shipping Options
We ship using FedEx Ground or Express service. Most orders take 1 business day to process (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 EST) in addition to the delivery times outlined below. Orders submitted outside of business hours (during evenings and weekends) will be processed on the next business day.
Ground service
Shipping Time within Canada: 2 to 7 business days (depending on the region)
Shipping Time to the United States: 2 to 7 business days (depending on the region)
Express service
Shipping Time within Canada: 2 business days (for orders received before 11 am EST)
Shipping Time to the United States: 2 business days (for orders received before 11 am EST)
If you choose the Express shipping option, please ensure that you submit your order online by 11am EST, Monday to Friday; Express orders received after 11am will be processed on the next regular business day.
Return Policy

Taxation
Please note that orders are subject to sales tax based on the shipping destination and type of product being shipped. (Books and non-book items are taxed differently.) The different tax categories for Goods and Services Tax (GST), Provincial Sales Tax (PST), Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and Quebec Sales Tax (QST) are as follows:
Tax on books
- Quebec: 5% GST
- All other provinces and territories: 5% GST
Tax on the shipping charge (book orders)
- Ontario: 5% GST
- Quebec: 5% GST + 7.5% QST
- New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia: 13% HST
- All other provinces and territories: 5% GST
Tax on non-book Items
- Ontario: 5% GST + 8% PST
- Québec: 5% GST + 7.5% QST
- New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia: 13% HST
- All other provinces and territories: 5% GST

A note regarding orders to the United States
Orders to the United States are tax-exempt on both the goods and the shipping. The U.S. Government may levy duties and taxes on shipments from Canada. The recipient of the order will be responsible for any additional duties or taxes applied.
International Orders
International orders are tax-exempt (on books, gifts and the shipping charge). To place an international order, please contact us by e-mail at ngcbook@gallery.ca.
Security
When you send credit card information to Shop NGC, we use a technology called secure socket layer (SSL) to encrypt this information between your computer and our server. However, other personal information you send to us (including e-mail messages) will not be encrypted unless we advise otherwise. Please do not send credit card or password information to us via e-mail.
We collect customer information in an effort to improve your shopping experience at Shop NGC and to better communicate with you about our products, services and promotions. Your information is never given or sold to third parties.
