CBC in the Maritimes has joined with the Atlantic Film Festival Association to bring you SHORT FILM FACEOFF. Watch some of the region’s finest short films as we launch our third season of Short Film Faceoff.
Nine short films will be screened during the series. They were chosen from official selections of the Atlantic Film Festival and from filmmakers across Atlantic Canada. The series airs on CBC Television July 17, 24, 31 and wraps up with the announcement of the winning film and director on August 7.
The television audience will have the chance to participate by voting for their favourite short film! Voting starts on July 31 following the show at 9:00 p.m.
CBC PEI’s Matt Rainnie returns as our host for the one-hour program. Similar to last year’s show, each film will be screened and critiqued by a panel of judges.
The winning filmmaker will receive a production deal towards their next film from CBC and PS Production Services. Last year's winner, was Glamour Guts, directed by Jasmine Oore.

Panelists
Short Film Faceoff panelists are New Brunswick arts journalist and documentary maker Christine McLean, award-winning Nova Scotia actor and writer Anthony Sherwood, and Newfoundland writer and director
Sherry White. Each night, the trio will critique the films and pick a favourite. Then the studio audience votes to determine which film advances to the final round. The home audience votes for the ultimate winner through online and telephone voting.
Voting
Film fans have the opportunity to vote and chose this years winning film.
On Saturday, July 31 the third finalist will be chosen on Short Film Faceoff then we will open voting to the home audience. Viewers may vote online through this website or by phone.
Voting opens Saturday, July 31 at 9:00 pm and closes Monday Aug. 2 at 6:00 pm. We will allow a maximum of five votes per computer address and phone number.
