CAFE SCIENTIFIQUE: VITAMIN D: TODAY'S "IT" NUTRIENT
CBC Radio Noon's Bernard St-Laurent, moderator of the Cafe Scientifique, with panelists Dr. Richard Kremer and Dr. Hope Weiler. Missing is Dr. Beatrice Wang.
Osteoporosis, diabetes, some forms of cancer - Vitamin D has been getting a lot of attention recently as more and more studies are showing promising results. In June, CBC Radio's Bernard St-Laurent hosted a free public event in front of a packed house at the Cafe des Beaux Arts in downtown Montreal. It was called Cafe Scientifique, and it was organized by the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and CBC Radio Noon. The idea was to bring together some of the MUHC's top researchers and have them speak to and answer questions from the public. The topic of this Cafe Scientifique was "Vitamin D: Today's "It" Nutrient
We had a panel of three experts on hand to answer questions about Vitamin D:
Dr. Richard Kremer - Director of the Bone and Mineral Unit, Research Institute of the MUHC
Hope Weiler - Canada Research Chair in Nutrition, Development and Aging, McGill University
Dr. Beatrice Wang - Assistant Professor, Dermatology, McGill University / Director, Melanoma Clinic, MUHC
