Simi Sara

TV and radio host Simi Sara is one of Vancouver's most charismatic media personalities

Award-winning Vancouver TV and radio broadcaster Simi Sara has been a familiar face and voice to audiences in British Columbia's Lower Mainland for almost 20 years.

At Citytv Vancouver, she moved from hosting the morning show to anchoring the flagship evening news program. For six years she also hosted the popular cooking show City Cooks, with renowned chefs from Jamie Oliver to Anthony Bourdain stopping by to share their stories and recipes.

On radio, she most recently hosted The Simi Sara Show, a four-hour weekday current affairs program on Talk 1410.

Born and raised in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey, Simi knew from an early age that she wanted to be part of the media world. As a junior in high school, she worked on the school newspaper, and went on to enrol in the print journalism program at Vancouver's Langara College.

She was still a student there when she landed her first job in television, in the newsroom of Citytv. She went on to become one of the station's most popular personalities.

In 1995, the B.C. Association of Broadcasters named her the Broadcaster Performer of Tomorrow. Eight years later, in 2003, she won the assocation's award for Broadcaster Performer of the Year.
