Watch commentators Parminder Singh & Harnarayan Singh announce the games in the Punjabi language. Punjabi is the fourth most spoken language in Canada after English, French and Chinese, according to an official census.
What began as a pilot project by CBC during the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals has fired up Punjabis across Canada as they tune in every week to watch NHL hockey games in Punjabi.

Parminder Singh:
Singh began his broadcasting career in 2002 with the sports department at 680News in Toronto, covering the University of Toronto’s Varsity Blues athletics as well as on-air reporting with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays. He also hosted a program on CUIT 89.5FM with the University of Toronto.
In 2006, Singh joined OMNI Television’s Punjabi-language program Chardi Kalaa and today is as a host the co-host of their Toudi Sehat (Your Health) segment. Over the course of his career, Singh has had the opportunity to interview a host of Canadian political figures and luminaries, such as former Canadian Prime Minister’s Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien along with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty
Harnarayan Singh:
Harnarayan's broadcasting career began in his hometown of Brooks, Alberta at Q13 radio. He completed his broadcasting education from Mount Royal University in Calgary while also serving as a reporter for CBC Radio. In 2004, he was one of eight broadcasting students chosen from thousands across Canada to work for TSN’s Sportscentre.
In addition to his role on CBC’s HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, Singh is an analyst for CBC’s Toronto Raptor’s Punjabi broadcasts, is a reporter with CBC Calgary, a Mortgage Agent and an accomplished musician, playing the Tabla and Harmonium and performing in front of large audiences on numerous occasions across Canada, the United States and India. Harnarayan has also accompanied some of the world's most famous Sikh musicians as a vocalist and percussionist.
