CBC now offers you the ability to set up a CBC Websignal on your Blackbery. Once you have registered for the CBC Websignal service, an icon will appear on your BlackBerry desktop. Whenever there is a breaking news story from CBC, the icon's appearance will change color. To view the breaking news story, click the icon. When there is no breaking news story, the icon will act as a bookmark and provide easy access to the CBC Rich Mobile Site.

To register for the CBC BlackBerry Websignal service, enter an email address that you can access on your BlackBerry below and click the "Send" button. CBC Websignal Troubleshooting

Error: You are not able to unsubscribe from the CBC Websignal.

Solution: To unsubscribe from the CBC Websignal use the Blackberry Internet Browser on your BlackBerry device to visit this link:
http://push.na.mobile.blackberry.com/mss/PM_subList.
This link will take you to the main RIM Websignals page where you can find and unsubscribe from the CBC Websignal.

Error: You receive an error "Puid is already registered" when subscribing.

Problem: You have already tried to register with the same PUID.

Solution: Please check your Downloads folder first to see if CBC Websignal alert is already saved there. If it is not, please be patient until the next alert has been sent and the icon will appear.

Error: "HTTP Error 400: Bad Request. The server could not understand the page request, or was unable to process it for some reason"

Problem: Websignals are associated with the BlackBerry Internet Service exclusively. As a result, web signals are only available to those BlackBerry users who are BlackBerry Internet Service subscribers and who have the BlackBerry Internet Service Browser. You are using the wrong browser to open the registration URL.

Solution: Please make sure to use the Blackberry Internet Browser and not the Blackberry Browser. To view your settings or change your default browser to Blackberry Internet Browser, please go to "Options", then "Advanced Options", "Browser" and set your Default browser configuration to "Internet Browser". "Save" your settings and "Close". Try again clicking on the registration link.

Error: When there is no News Alert, the CBC Websignal Icon does not trigger the BlackBerry browser and load the CBC Rich Mobile Site.

Problem: In order for the CBC Websignal Icon to work as a trigger for the CBC Rich Mobile Site on your BlackBerry, you need to have "Javascript Support" enabled on your BlackBerry.

Solution: In order to enable "Javascript Support" on your BlackBerry, please follow these steps:

  • load any mobile site in your BlackBerry browser
  • click the menu button on your BlackBerry
  • select the "Options" item on the menu that appears
  • select "Browser Configuration" on the next menu that appears
  • scroll down the list that you see and ensure that the checkbox next to "Support Javascript" is checked.
  • exit the browser, turn off and restart your BlackBerry.
  • when you try the CBC Websignal Icon again it should now start the browser and load the CBC Rich Mobile Site.
