Analysis: Lindstrom has struggled of late, allowing nine runs and nine hits with three homers in 2 1-3 innings over his last four relief outings. Those problems could stem from back problems, but details are still unclear.
8/19/2010 Lance Berkman, 1B (NYY) Berkman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the New York Yankees because of a sprained right ankle.

Analysis: The move was made before Thursday's series finale against Detroit and is retroactive to Aug. 16, the day after Berkman rolled his ankle while stumbling across first base as he tried to beat a throw in Kansas City. Berkman, a five-time All-Star, is batting .179 (7 for 39) with the Yankees since he was acquired from Houston at the July 31 trade deadline.

8/19/2010 Evan Longoria, 3B (TB) Longoria hit a solo homer and drove in four runs to help the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 8-6 on Wednesday, completing a sweep of the three-game set between potential playoff opponents.

Analysis: Longoria had seven hits - including five for extra bases - in 12 at-bats with eight RBIs during the three-game sweep. He entered the game hitting .234 over his previous 25 games.
8/19/2010 Pedro Feliz, 3B (StL) The Cardinals got some help at third base, acquiring Pedro Feliz from the Astros for minor league pitcher David Carpenter.

Analysis: Felipe Lopez has been starting at third base since David Freese was sidelined by injuries in June and has slumped at the plate and in the field lately. The 35-year-old Feliz started for the Phillies' 2008 World Series team. He played 97 games for the Astros this season at first base and third base, and was batting .221 with four homers and 31 RBIs. He also has the second-best fielding percentage among third baseman since 2007 at .967.
8/19/2010 Mike Dunn, RP (Atl) Dunn will be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday once the Braves activate Eric O'Flaherty from the disabled list.

Analysis: Dunn is 1-0 in 10 games since he was recalled from Gwinnett. He has not allowed a run in 7 2-3 innings entering Thursday's game against the Nationals.
8/19/2010 Eric O'Flaherty, RP (Atl) Manager Bobby Cox says O'Flaherty will come off the 15-day disabled list following Thursday's game against Washington. Rookie left-hander Mike Dunn will be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Analysis: O'Flaherty is 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 41 games. He will join rookie Jonny Venters and closer Billy Wagner as left-handers in the bullpen. O'Flaherty has missed 34 games since he was placed on the disabled list July 10.
8/19/2010 Nyjer Morgan, CF (Was) Morgan has been activated from the disabled list and is batting leadoff against the Atlanta Braves.

Analysis: Thursday was the first day Morgan, who was recovering from a sore hip, could come off the disabled list.
