8/19/2010 Earl Boykins, PG Boykins has signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Analysis: Agent Mark Termini said the 11-year veteran had offers from other teams but was comfortable with Milwaukee, one of nine teams the 5-foot-5 Boykins has played for previously. Boykins has averaged 9.3 points and 3.4 assists per game during his NBA career. Boykins will likely back up Brandon Jennings for the Bucks, who lost guard Luke Ridnour as a free agent to Minnesota this summer.
8/19/2010 Rudy Fernandez, SG The NBA has fined Fernandez $25,000 for public statements that are ``detrimental'' to the league.

Analysis: The fine was imposed on Thursday, a day after Fernandez's agent said he did not want to return to the Blazers this season. Blazers general manager Rich Cho said Wednesday that the team has looked at several possible deals involving the Spaniard, but none of them have made sense for Portland.
8/18/2010 Tim Thomas, F The Mavericks say they have re-signed free-agent forward Tim Thomas.

Analysis: The 6-foot-10, 230-pound veteran of 13 NBA seasons played in 18 games with the Mavericks last season, including one start, and averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He missed the first 11 games of the season because of surgery on his right knee and 41 other games for what the team described as personal reasons. He has averaged 11.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 824 career NBA games since leaving Villanova.
8/18/2010 Anderson Varejao, F-C Varejao sprained his right ankle while playing for Brazil's national team in Spain on Wednesday, but the Cavs' big man is not expected to miss any time. Varejao rolled his ankle in a collision with Spanish forward Fran Vazquez during an exhibition in Logrno, Spain.

Analysis: The 6-foot-11 forward was taken for tests, including an MRI, which was negative. A spokeswoman for Brazil's team said Varejao is expected to play against France as the Brazilians tune up for the world championships, which begin Aug. 28 in Turkey.
8/18/2010 Rudy Fernandez, SG The agent for Rudy Fernandez says the Trail Blazers swingman does not want to return to the NBA.

Analysis: Agent Andy Miller told several media outlets that Fernandez wants to play in Europe and is willing to sit out for the next two seasons, the time left on his contract with the Blazers. General manager Rich Cho says the team has looked at several possible deals involving the Spaniard, but none of them have made sense for Portland. Fernandez, a fan favorite, has been unhappy about his playing time.
8/17/2010 Adonal Foyle, C Foyle is ending his NBA playing career after 13 seasons.

Analysis: The 35-year-old center announced his retirement Monday after playing for the Orlando Magic the last three seasons. Foyle spent his first 10 years with the Golden State Warriors, and had a brief midseason stint with Memphis in 2009. The Magic touted Foyle as a great mentor for center Dwight Howard. But a right-knee injury often kept the former Colgate star from practicing last season.
8/17/2010 LeBron James, SF Adding a new layer to the rift between James and Dan Gilbert, the NBA’s two-time reigning MVP and new Miami Heat forward has told GQ magazine that he isn’t sure the Cleveland Cavaliers owner "ever cared" about him during their time together.

Analysis: In an article released Tuesday, James spoke of how widespread criticism of his decision - and how he chose to make it a television event - is fueling him this offseason, plus reiterated how Ohio will always remain his home. Despite his feuding with Gilbert, James thinks that if he could ever play for the Cavaliers again someday, it would be "a great story."
8/16/2010 Lance Stephenson, G Authorities say the girlfriend of Stephenson hit her head on a concrete step when he pushed her down a flight of stairs in New York. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Monday that she was treated for head and neck injuries after a 911 call from her home in Brooklyn.

Analysis: His comments came a day after Stephenson's arrest on charges of assault, reckless endangerment and menacing. Pacers president Larry Bird says he is aware of the situation. Stephenson attorney Alberto Ebanks didn't return phone and e-mail messages. Stephenson was one of the nation's top high school prospects. He played one season at Cincinnati before applying for early entry to the NBA draft.
8/16/2010 Stanley Robinson, F The Orlando Magic have signed Robinson. The team made the announcement Monday.

Analysis: Robinson was selected by Orlando with the 59th overall pick in this year's NBA draft. The former Connecticut forward averaged 5.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game on the Magic's summer league team. Robinson is the 14th player on the Magic's roster. The team did not disclose details of his contract. Robinson played in 126 games at Connecticut. He averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game as a senior last season.
8/16/2010 Samardo Samuels, F The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Samuels, who left Louisville after his sophomore season.

Analysis: The 6-foot-9, 260-pounder averaged 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds last season for the Cardinals before declaring for the NBA. In 70 starts at the school, Samuels averaged 13.6 points and 5.9 rebounds and made 55 percent of his shots. Samuels, 21, played on Chicago's summer league team in Las Vegas. He averaged 12.6 points and 7.4 boards in five games.
8/15/2010 Udonis Haslem, F-C The Florida Highway Patrol says Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem was arrested on a drug charge following a Sunday afternoon traffic stop in Miami-Dade County.

Analysis: FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said Haslem, 30, and a passenger were both cited. Wysocky said he expected that the charge would be related to marijuana possession. A full release was expected from FHP later Sunday evening. Haslem has spent all seven of his NBA seasons with the Heat, and the South Florida native signed a new five-year contract to stay with the team last month.
8/15/2010 Yi Jianlian, PF Jianlian shot 3 of 15 for 11 points in China's 92-76 loss to Puerto Rico on Sunday.

Analysis: Jianlian made his return to the New York metropolitan region after being traded in the offseason to Washington.
8/15/2010 Lance Stephenson, G Stephenson has been arrested in his native New York City, accused of assaulting his girlfriend. Police say Stephenson was taken into custody Sunday following a 5 a.m. fight with the woman in Brooklyn. The woman was treated at a hospital for injuries sustained in a fall down a flight of stairs.

Analysis: Pacers president Larry Bird said in a statement Sunday night that he is ``aware of a situation involving Lance Stephenson.'' He said the team is gathering information. Stephenson was one of the nation's top prospects coming out of high school, but he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after being accused of groping a 17-year-old girl. He played one season at Cincinnati before applying for early entry to the NBA draft.
8/14/2010 Carmelo Anthony, SF Anthony says he has no timetable on when he'll decide whether to sign the team's $65 million, three-year extension that's been on the table all summer.

Analysis: During his annual basketball camp at ThunderRidge High School, Anthony said he's displayed his loyalty to Denver and the Nuggets over the last seven seasons, but "I'm just taking my time, figuring out if I want to take that extension or not.'' Anthony could become the headliner of the 2011 free agent class if he decides not to sign the extension or exercise the option on his current contract, which would pay him $18.5 million in 2011-12.
8/13/2010 Terrico White, G The Detroit Pistons have signed White to a two-year contract. The team announced the signing Friday. White's salary will be $475,000 this season as a rookie and the second year of the deal is not guaranteed.

Analysis: Detroit drafted the Mississippi guard in the second round with the 36th pick overall in June. The 6-foot-5 White, who is from Memphis, Tenn., averaged 15 points last season as a sophomore.
8/13/2010 Derrick Caracter, F The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Caracter. The 22-year-old forward was taken with the 58th pick in the June draft.

Analysis: He averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks starting all five games for the Lakers' entry in the Las Vegas summer league. Caracter averaged 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds at UTEP last season. He played his first two seasons at Louisville before transferring for his junior year.
8/12/2010 Devin Ebanks, F The Lakers have signed Ebanks.

Analysis: The Lakers selected the 20-year-old forward with the 43rd pick in the June draft. Ebanks averaged 15 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists starting all five games for the Lakers' entry in the Las Vegas summer league. He left West Virginia after two seasons, in which he averaged 11.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
8/11/2010 Darren Collison, PG The Indiana Pacers acquired Collison and forward James Posey from New Orleans in a four-way trade that also includes New Jersey and Houston.

Analysis: The Pacers also announced Wednesday they have dealt Troy Murphy to the Nets, who sent guard Courtney Lee to Houston. To complete the trade, the Rockets shipped swingman Trevor Ariza to New Orleans. Indiana was searching for a point guard since T.J. Ford fell out of favor last season with coach Jim O'Brien. The Paces get a good young one in Collison, who played well when Chris Paul was injured.
