CBC Radio One Daybreak Alberta
Welcome to Daybreak

Chris dela Torre sits in as Guest Host on Daybreak.

This weekend, Chris dela Torre spoke to author and journalist Todd Babiak about his latest novel, Toby: A Man.  It's a journey of self-discovery about a young TV personality who loses his job, car, condo and smartphone...only to truly find himself.  Babiak recently re-located his family to rural France, and is writing a column about the experience for the Edmonton Journal.

Chris also spoke to Kelly Oxford -- a stay-at-home mom from Calgary who's now an online celebrity, thanks to her sharp-witted one-liners on Twitter.  She's currently at work on a TV pilot about her life, with the help of an Emmy-winning TV writer.

Singer/songwriter Leah Abramson dropped by the studio for a chat.  She's hard at work on her current solo project / faux vocal ensemble The Abramson Singers, and just wrapped up a creative residency in Banff and a cross-Canada tour...by train.

Chris also spoke to two members of the Chickadivas -- an all-female a cappella group from Edmonton.  We also heard the group's rendition of the 80's pop hit, 'Sweet Dreams'.
