  1. @Frank_McG Also, with regard to food, if it's well crafted who cares if it's nutritious?
  2. @Frank_McG if an advertiser ever influenced editorial contents of a major paper, it'd be a very major deal that you'd hear about.
  3. @Frank_McG Some businesses, what you say is true. In a craft (journalism, baking), the craftspeople are effectively a guild and resist this.
  4. @Frank_McG The advertiser is not a large stakeholder. And allowing that to happen would destroy brand to detriment of real stakeholders.
  5. @gngreen not these days. In Conrad's heyday, he did like front-page stories at Telly/J-Post etc to reflect editorial line.
  6. @Frank_McG I've never seen or heard of ads affecting editorial policy (except in more "advertorial" back sections of some papers, ie Homes)
  7. @dgardner ...and some where journos expected to toe editorial line.
  8. @dgardner you also need to distinguish papers whose editorial boards are Chinese-walled out of the journalistic operation (WSJ/G&M).
  9. @MariamCook Ah, an ASF ("alternative story format"). My new reality.
  10. @MariamCook I think that tipping-over dynamic might best be described with a scattergraph.

  12. @kiraselina Actually, we are still part of the Realm (which makes Queen head of state) - - lots of republics are part of the Commonwealth.
  13. Note that aforementioned NATO bomb claim was not Saif al-Islam (Mr. Speech) but the much less significant Saif al-Arab.
  14. Stunning if true RT @ChangeInLibya: TRIPOLI BREAKING: GADDAFI STATE TV: Gaddafi's son SAIF-AL-ARAB WAS KILLED in tonight's NATO air strikes
  15. @lpolgreen This was classic Congress approach, wasn't it? Is there an agricultural-modernizing branch of any substance?
  16. @lpolgreen I think that's an important question - - is India policy maintaining subsistence farming and thus absolute poverty/big families?
  17. @Watcher58 I'm sure it sounded good at the morning meeting: One of UK's most famous artists will do our front page!
  18. RT @danwootton: And now the worst front page has arrived. You HAVE to see this to believe it. http://twitpic.com/4r4gh3
