Introduction

Welcome to the TD Summer Reading Club! This national program is designed to motivate children to read for pleasure, to develop their curiosity and to stimulate their imagination. The goal is to maintain or improve the reading skills of children over the summer.

The program is free and offered in over 400 Canadian public libraries to children ages 12 and under, even to the young ones that do not yet read. With a different theme each year, the Club has been amazingly successful. During the summer of 2005, nearly two million books were read by 200,000 children!

Want to learn more about TD Summer Reading Club? Do not hesitate to consult the different web pages written for the parents, the teachers and early childhood educators, and also the librarians. The interactive website for kids will be accessible all summer long.

Theme and illustration 2006

The theme for summer 2006 is Quest for Heroes! Children can pick up their awesome reading kit when they register for the Club at their local library. This year, the visual designs were created by the illustrator Martha Newbigging.
