Additional Information for Publishers of Online Publications

Previous

I submitted online publications to the Electronic Collections. Can I make changes to my publications in your system? Can LAC make those changes for me?

The LAC Electronic Collections contain Canadian publications as they were originally published, and cannot be altered once archived. Please ensure that your publications are in their final version prior to submission. Note that new editions of your publications can be submitted, but these will be added as new materials and will not replace earlier editions or copies.

How do people viewing my publication in the LAC Electronic Collection know they are viewing an archival copy as opposed to a copy at my live website?

Before the Electronic Collections can be viewed, a disclaimer is displayed which informs the viewer the publication is an archived version. The disclaimer reads as follows:

Does Legal Deposit protect the copyright of my publication?

The purpose of legal deposit is to acquire, preserve and provide access to Canadian published heritage for current and future generations. It does not protect or register the intellectual property of your work.

Copyright is managed by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cipointernet-internetopic.nsf/eng/h_wr00003.html).

Who should I contact regarding an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for my eBook?

ISBNs are managed by LAC's ISBN Agency. For more information regarding ISBNs for online publications, please contact the ISBN Agency at isbn@bac-lac.gc.ca.

Who should I contact regarding an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) for my online serial?

ISSNs are managed by ISSN Canada. To get more information regarding ISSNs for online serial publications, please contact the ISSN Agency at issn@bac-lac.gc.ca.

Can I obtain a Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) record for my online publication?
