Fernand (Fern) Proulx Interim President and Chief Operating Officer
Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation
Fernand Proulx is currently Interim President and CEO of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation. Mr Proulx was appointed to this position following the departure in May 2013 of the Corporation’s former President and CEO, Denise Amyot.
As Interim President and CEO, Mr Proulx assumes responsibility for managing the overall operations of the Corporation in accordance with its legislated mandate, as well as for executing the Corporation’s corporate plan.
The mandate of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation is to foster scientific and technological literacy throughout Canada. The Corporation and its three museums – the
Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the
Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the
Canada Science and Technology Museum – tell the stories of Canadian ingenuity and achievement in science and technology and demonstrate how these accomplishments have contributed to the building of our country.
Fern joined the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation in 1995 as Director of Finance and Administration and became in 2001 the Corporation’s Executive Director of Finance, Administration and Facilities.
Prior to joining the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, Mr Proulx worked in financial management and business planning and improvement from 1985 to 1995 in the public and private sectors for organizations, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau Quebec, Hercules Canada Inc. in Mississauga, ON, Lumsden Brothers Company Limited in Burlington, ON, and National Grocers Co. Ltd in Ontario.
Mr Proulx has obtained his Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor, has advanced standings with the Certified General Accounts of Ontario, and is a graduate of the Museum Leadership Institute of the Getty Foundation in Los Angeles, California.
In addition to leading the Corporation’s United Way Campaign, Fern’s community involvement includes volunteering at the Food Bank, acting as a career mentor for the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization, and joining the Board of Directors of the Diefenbunker Museum in Carp, ON.
