Experiment with water rockets, make a hot-air balloon model, and build and fly gliders and kites. Dress like an astronaut and perform your own "space walk." Explore the Museum, sit in various cockpits, try the controls of the Museum's Cessna 150, and more.
This camp offers out-of-this-world inspiration for crafty kids. Explore all things extraterrestrial, make 3-D model aliens, draw life-sized astronauts, paint nebulae and star fields, build a diorama of life on another planet, and more. Make and view a very special large art project from the air (weather permitting)!
Experiment with rockets, build and test glider models, take astronaut training, and explore an unknown planet! Undergo "test flights" in various cockpits and simulators.
Conduct pre-flight safety checks, keep your log book up to date, and conduct aerodynamics experiments. Wear the gear, try the flight simulators, and manipulate the controls of the Museum's Cessna 150!
Train like an astronaut, receive a mission briefing and assignment, and chart your course through the stars. Conduct experiments and discover how life in Space is different from life on Earth.
Explore the world of Lego NXT robotics and programming with Ian Dudley, Ottawa's renowned Lego Guy. Become a junior aircraft engineer creating dynamic projects using Lego Technic. Learn how various aircraft systems work and build them using gears, pulleys, motors, pneumatics, and more!
As a junior aerospace engineer, you create dynamic projects using Lego Technic! Explore the world of space robotics with Ian Dudley, Ottawa's renowned Lego Guy, using Lego NXT and RCX to control a selection of projects with sound, light, touch, and ultrasonic sensors.
Build your own balsa-wood model and test it in a dogfight "round the pole." Save your egg from destruction in an egg-launch challenge. Construct and launch a rocket, assemble a homebuilt kit airplane, sit in various aircraft cockpits, manipulate the controls of a Cessna 150, and try the Museum's flight simulators.
This camp really is rocket science! Discover how rockets work and what they are used for. Find out just how cramped it is for astronauts travelling to the International Space Station. Build and launch a different style of model rocket each day (weather permitting)!
Ottawa's renowned Lego Guy, Ian Dudley, is back with more exciting and challenging projects designed to help you explore the Museum's collection and the science of flight using Lego. You even film your very own YouTube video featuring your projects!
