HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Located in Toronto, the Human Resources Manager is a seasoned human resources generalist with extensive compensation experience. The Human Resources Manager is expected to provide advice and counsel on all human resources management issues across the Company to ensure: consistency in philosophical approach and practice; efficient and effective client services and timely strategic planning and development. The successful candidate will provide direction and make recommendations on human resources management issues such as employee relations, organizational and role structure, compensation reward systems, performance management and staff development, succession planning, leadership development, recruitment and complete a variety of special projects within the HR scope. He/she will equally provide strategic and tactical support to the Director, Human Resources to meet HR business goals and strategies for Real Estate/Corporate (REC), the CN Tower (CNT), and Old Port of Montreal.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitation of a collaborative approach to decision making through building relations with stakeholders
  • Creation, implementation and management of a whole variety of company-side HR programs and policies
  • Counseling and advice on employee/labour relations’ issues (acts as an advisor to both managers and employees)
  • Subject matter expert for total rewards strategy: design, implement, and administer a company-wide total reward program (base salary, short-term incentive, benefits) to attract and retain the top talent needed to support a dynamic business
  • Subject matter expert for legal and employment issues; ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and local employment laws
  • Benchmark, develop, and coordinate compensation plans of the company, create job descriptions, salary management, benefits, incentive compensation, and pay equity and employment equity. Comprehensive survey data analysis and preparation of a periodic economic analysis to support compensation recommendations.
  • Support the Director, Human Resources in administration of compensation program by completing CLC’s input to commercial salary and benefits surveys, preparing job-matching and benchmark reviews, preparing worksheets for the annual salary and incentive reviews and preparing salary and incentive letters.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education, Experience and Knowledge

  • Completion of all or part of a recognized program of study in Human Resources
  • Post-secondary education in related field
  • Strong numerical aptitude and good knowledge of statistics
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in HR with at least 3 years’ management experience
  • Strong knowledge of organizational design principles and change management
  • Current general knowledge of HR practices, trends, and techniques. Familiarity with standard desktop software (eg: MS Office, e-mail, internet); knowledge of HR applications (eg: org. charting software, HRIS) an asset
