OPENINGS

  • The makers of Poutini’s and Hawker Bar have branched out into macaroni and cheese with nearby Bobbie Sue’s at 162 Ossington Ave. Open for dinner only weekdays but day and night on weekends, the takeout counter sells cavatappi noodles custom baked with pulled pork ($7 small), hotdogs ($7 small) and a vegan version ($5.30).
  • Also on the strip, mysterious Mediterranean restaurant Return to Oss opened last week in the former Fishbar at 217 Ossington Ave.
  • Ambitious 905 restaurant Fishbone has a third location, this one at 302 Wellington St. E. in Aurora.
  • Kinton Ramen opened location No. 5 at 396 Church St.
  • CHANGES

  • Chef Rob Bragagnolo has left Marben Restaurant, 488 Wellington St. W., and is “working on a few new projects,” he says.
  • EVENTS

  • Willow’s Eat to the Beat turns 20 on Oct. 27, with 60 female chefs cooking in support of those with breast or hereditary cancer. Tickets to the Roy Thomson Hall event, 60 Simcoe St., are $175.
  • Chef Ernesto Iaccarino of Italy’s two-Michelin-star restaurant Don Alfonso 1890 and Rob Gentile will preside over a six-course dinner Nov. 5 at Buca Osteria & Bar, 53 Scollard St. Tickets are $300 a person via kingstreetfood.com, with proceeds funding Italian internships through George Brown College’s Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts.
