The Toronto Star Speakers Bureau provides journalists and other newspaper employees to speak at various organizations’ events throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

REQUIREMENTS

To request a speaker from the Toronto Star Speakers Bureau, your group or organization must meet the following requirements:

Attendance : 50 people minimum

Location : Within the confines of the Greater Toronto Area

Organization : Schools, not-for-profit groups, civic groups

Speech Duration : One (1) hour maximum

Event : We do not participate in fundraisers, forums, panels, symposiums, conferences, or any corporate event

REQUEST PROCEDURE

Please follow these guidelines for requesting a speaker:

Date : Groups must have an exact date and time to request a speaker

Topic : Groups must have a specific topic to which they are requesting a speaker

Time Frame : Groups must allow for at least 3 weeks minimum before event date, up to 3 months in advance

Q. How long can we reserve a speaker for?
A. Speakers can only be requested for one (1) hour of time.

Q. Can we ask the speaker to speak on a certain topic or does it have to relate to their expertise?
A. Our speakers only speak on areas of their own expertise.

Q. How much notice do you require if I want to book one of your speakers?
A. Please provide at least 3 weeks notice prior to your event.

Q. Is the speaker available only during business hours?
A. Sometimes our volunteers will commit to events outside of business hours, but please understand it is up to the individual.

Q. Is there any way to get a speaker with less than 50 people?
A. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot accommodate groups smaller than 50 people.
