An example is a chosen representation of a rule, recurring event or qualitative performance of a task. It is often abbreviated to e.g. in print and elsewhere. The terms' use in a sentence may look something like: "Barack Obama is an example of a U.S. President that used to be a U.S. Senator before he was elected."
