Scope?[edit]
This is a very ambiguous topic whose dimensions could be taken to broad extremes... which I'm not completely averse to; however, I have clashed with editors who will go after the template for that reason. I would suggest defining the years in the title on the template, i.e. "American Old West: 18.. to 18.." • Freechild'sup? 07:02, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Such a definition is subjective; the lead paragraph of American Old West sums up the ambiguity of the Old West timeframe. I was working under the premise that if it was covered significantly in the main article, it went on the template. --Tombstone (talk) 07:33, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- I can see how a person could be tempted to use that as the barometer; thanks for explaining that. If I may, I would suggest that using that initial paragraph as the guideline this template may include any WP article related, as the notability of the topics therein should hypothetically have been proven by the existence of the article. (I would be loath to see all the non-popular stories and figures, such as those from Nebraska, New Mexico and Montana, left out simply because they aren't in the main article at this point - and because the dime novels covering them were never popular). • Freechild'sup? 13:09, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Correct title?[edit]
The American Frontier includes the initial expansion of the 13 colonies, (including such things as the Northwest Territory, Franklin, Daniel Boone and the Wilderness Trail, the Chickamauga Cherokee, Lousiana Purchase, etc.) and may not adhere to the author's intent of this template. Wouldn't "Old West" or something similar work better? The "American Frontier" is HUGE in scope for a single template. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 16:10, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
WikiCleaner[edit]
Used WikiCleaner and found typo in "Tucson" and updated a few links to WP pages. Funandtrvl (talk) 04:29, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
